It breaks uric acid down and makes hydrogen peroxide doing it. For almost everyone that is nothing. For someone whose red cells cannot handle oxidative stress it is the one contraindication on this site printed in a box on the label.

Contraindicated. Rasburicase carries a boxed warning against use in G6PD deficiency: it generates hydrogen peroxide as it breaks uric acid down, which is precisely the oxidative stress a G6PD-deficient red cell cannot handle. Severe haemolysis and methaemoglobinaemia have been reported.
